A Whole New World

Hello World!

As my journey begins I shall try and keep up you up to date with everything that is happening here.  Therefore, since this is my first post I shall start from the beginning.  My parents and Kathleen took me to the Cedar Rapids airport where I began my long journey.  I flew out of CR at 5:20 PM to Minneapolis.  Thankfully the flight was under an hour, (I don't much like flying on puddle jumpers, or on long flights for that matter.)  I had about a 3 hour layover there then had a 8.5 hour flight to Amsterdam.  Let me tell you something about the Amsterdam airport, Weird.   I did not much enjoy being there, they had 0 decorations on the wall and very little sitting space while waiting for your flight.  I unfortunately had a long layover there about 3.5 hours and the gate that I was going to was downstairs.  Now the fact that it was downstairs was ok, but they only had about 10 seats upstairs for people who were waiting for their flight.  Also you had to wait upstairs until about 30 minutes before your flight took off, UGH!   There I had to go through security AGAIN, and they don't have the normal metal detectors that we have in the US.  Here we got into this tube like enclosed area (except where the exit and entry were) and had to spread our legs and raise our hands in the air, there it took a full image and highlighted anything that would have to be looked at.  Funny Story in this I promise.   So  I did as the lady told me and had my arms in the air, once I came out she was like " Stay right there please"  So of course I obeyed.  When my picture came up she told me to turn around so that she could look at my bottom.  HAHA.   Ok?   So I turned around and was like I have a bedazzled butt.  It may have been on of those ' you have to be there moments'.  After I left to find my gate within the gate ( yes they had like abcdefgh types within)  there I met a girl who was also going to Hull, her name is Nicole and she is from Germany!  We started talking and decided that would go to get our luggage together and figure out where the people from Hull would be picking us up at.   Finally we arrived at Humberside airport, got through security, found our baggage and the people with out any complications!  There was only 3 of us that they had to pick up, so we got to know each other quite well on the ride over.  There I met Cassandra from Miami.  Driving to Hull was QUITE and experience, not only do they drive on the wrong side of the road, but those damn roundabouts are VERY confusing!
So now that you read the very boring part of the trip I can start on when I actually made it to my flat!   Yes, I am living in a flat (pictures soon to come) with 4 other housemates: 3 boys and 1 girl.  So once I got here I was immediately introduced to Catherine and she is Awesome!  As I started talking to her I found out that she is from Canada, and the 2 boys were from Germany ( the other boy wasent there yet.)   I made my way up a very tiny staircase to my room and started to get settled in.  Of course the first thing someone wants to do once they have been flying for a day is... Take a shower, correct.  Guess what?!?  Shower is broken, yes I said it, the shower is broken!  UGH!  GREAT! Don't worry people the shower is now fixed, and washing your hair in a sink is not fun!

So as today is concerned I will tell all about it later.  Catherine asked me to come watch a movie with her, so until next time.  BYE!
