Hello Again!
I guess I should update on what I've been up to these last 2 days. Yesterday was my first FULL day of England and let me tell you it was full of new things. After I had a wonderful night of sleep I started my day out by taking a campus tour with 2 of my friends I met at the airport (cassandra and nicole) and 2 of my roommates (catherine & adam). On this tour I learned a lot of interesting things about the university. Such as, did you know that majority of parliament is made up of people who graduated from Hull? Also, Hull created liquid crystals (or something like that). After we went on the campus tour we went shopping down the street from where I am staying. We went to this little fresh produce store and got some delicious fruits and vegetables, after that we went to get some groceries! There they had a lot of fresh baked goods, and delicious smoked cheeses. This is where I found out that I had the wrong type of money. We ordered money before I left so that I wouldn't have to deal with exchanging money when I got here. Let me say one thing about that.... FAIL! Apparently they use pounds in England and I received Euros, they are a little different. After that little failure we went back to cook dinner; grilled cheese sandwiches :) DELICIOUS! Later we were going to watch a movie in Catherines room, but we decided to go over to our neighbors to hang out. That was fun :)
Today was another fun filled day full of experiences. We had to get up early to go to an International Welcome & Introduction Seminar. When that was all over I got to come back and I had a lovely Skype date with my mother, let me tell you something about that.... it was interesting. HAHA. We couldn't get the sound to work on her side and of course we have different computers so where I was telling her to go to fix it, it wasn't the same on hers. Finally after about 15ish minutes later we got it all figured out :) My next adventure was BIG! We rode a bus into town to go shopping for some things. I have never rode a bus before in my life (minus the campus bus) so that was an EXPERIENCE! Once we got into town, we went to Primark to get bedding and things to make my room more 'homey'. After walking out with 3 bags of things we headed off to the phone store so I could get my SIM card. Let me tell you something about myself, when it comes to phones and figuring things out I am NOT the best and don't understand most of it. However I did get my card and my number is 07586 29078 but if you are from the US then you need to put a 011 44 before the number. Apparently the 011 gets you out of the US and the 44 is the UK country code or something like that, everything is SO complicated! But now that I have it I'm having a little trouble texting people back home :( Sorry Mom, but so far it won't let me text you. If it keeps it up I might have to go back and get it al figured out. Anyway, so after all that excitement shopping we were able to come back to our flat and just relax for an hour. Finally, a little relaxation! But an hour later we went to the International Bingo/Quiz Night. That was fun and interesting, we played bingo, but not the normal bingo you would expect. And the quiz was hard, but I didn't pay much attention to it, there were more interesting things going on around me. Also at the fun bingo night they were giving out prizes and one of the ways to win the prize other than to win bingo or the quiz was for whoever sang their national anthem the best! Hi-larious! After Bingo was all over we went to the bar to hang out with people. And for you Americans who read this you will get a kick out of it. They have this Student Union where it is run completely by student and they have a bar, restaurants, and a night club along with other things right in the middle of campus. You know your in England when they have that on campus! It is awesome! But it is not about 12:30 here and I am ready for bed, we have another long day ahead! So Goodbye and until next time!
