This week has been so relaxing with just a touch of excitement. Thursday started out with a little bit of chaos in one of my classes. For my Archaeology of Roman Britain class my professor handed out sheets for us to sign for a field trip to York that we were going to take. When he signed up for this field trip he was told by the office that nobody would have class on this day because it would be reading week. However, his weeks are different than the offices, so basically 80% of this class had class on that day. haha. So after about 10 minutes he decided that we would go on a Wednesday, very few people had a conflict on that day. Once that was all settled the class went on. When the class had ended I headed back home to relax and do some reading.
Now this is going to get interesting. Don't make fun of me, but something stupid did happen, which was not completely my fault. So here it goes. My window broke, not the actual glass but the metal supports that open and close the window (kind of like the hinges). So when I got home I made lunch and did some laundry, like any normal day. Once the laundry was finished I took them up to my room to be hung to dry out. Right, well I wanted them to dry somewhat quickly so I opened my window. After about an hour of the window being open I was starting to feel cold, so I decided to shut it. Now let me explain something first so you know how this exactly happened. There is a top and bottom window in my room, I always open the top because I didn't know how to open the bottom one. The bottom one apparently had a anti theft type of lock on it so when I want to open it I can only open it an inch then I have to pull down a clasp to release the lock so I can open it... But back to the story, the top window is quite high, and I can open it a ways since I am somewhat tall. Back to where I left off, since I can open it a ways when I started to close it I was paying as much attention and started pulling down. One side got stuck and the other went fine, therefore bending one of the metal support beam things. Anyway. I did have to call to get it fixed, so all is good now :) Well, I can't open the window, but I did figure out how to open the bottom so its all good.
On with the day! Later that night we went to the Hull fair, there was like 14 of us, so a big group! We had heard that the Hull fair was one of the largest/is the largest (we don't exactly know) fairs in England, so we decided to check it out. Now when I heard it was one of the largest I was expecting quite big, nope it was maybe a little bigger than the Jones or Delaware Co. Fairs. Not that big. I was thinking a little smaller than the Iowa State Fair.... about 1/4 the size. But don't get me wrong I still had a blast!!! We had to take 3 taxi's to get to the fair, and they all left at different times and dropped us off at different locations. Once we all got situated and found each other we headed around the fair. The first thing I saw was this awesome ride that I wanted to go onto. Audrey, the willing sport that she was went on it with me... and because nobody else wanted too.
Reminded me of the Zipper, without the cage.
Once we were done with the first ride we went and found some bumper cars. The place we went had a deal 7 cars for 10 pounds and passengers rode free. Cheap ride and everybody had fun! Can't beat that :) Continuing on after the bumper cars we went to the high swings ride, this was a very relaxing swing ride, and you could see the fair from up above, only about half the group went on this one.
Istvan, Laszlo, Adam, Petra, Audrey, Julia
This is where I talked Ronald into going on a good ride... I call it the mixer, but I don't know the actual name of it. This one was a big white ride with a ball on one end and 6 rows of 5 people spread out like a mixer, now this one would spin all different directions while going around and around. Its hard to explain....and I think I was the only excited one to go on it.... But that doesn't matter since I talked 4 others into going. The brave explorers were Istvan, Adam, Jimmy, Ronald, Mr. O, Me. I think some of them regretted their decision while waiting in line, but I know they had fun. When the fun was all over and my hair was in desperate need of a comb we left to walk around some more. About 5 minutes after we decided that it was time to go home, so we headed to the exit to find a cab.
Ronald, Adam, Audrey
Me, Svenja, Petra
That was us in the cab on the way Home :)
Now that you heard about my Thursday, nothing else compares to it so the next few days might be a little short.
So Friday was nothing new, I went to class at the horrible hour of 9:15. This was my seminar class and warned them that I was going to come in my PJ's... I didn't but I did wear my slippers and a T-shirt, which is dressed down enough that it could have been my PJ's. So in this wonderful seminar we went around and got to know each other a little better, which was actually quite interesting. I think I like the people in this class the best, nobody talks in my other 2 classes, which is such a downer. Anywho, we were given a sheet of paper for our presentations, we had to decide who was going to do what presentation. AND we also got to pick for our mini presentations. Such Fun, I just love getting up and talking about art, not really actually, but I do love talking. :) When class was all over I just went back home and started research. A little while later I started to fill out a paper that I would need to turn into the Study Abroad office about taking my exams back home. Which is fine, because I got to check out the Library on Campus. Now you may wonder why I just switched topics, but they are related. So I don't have a printer at the house, therefor the library has one. When I first walked in I was slightly in awe, then I realized that I had to scan my card to even get into the building. Wow, talk about security. However the library isn't much more than a library after that, so we will just skip that little part and continue on with the night. There was an International Party at Asylum that night, and I knew right away that I was not going to go, but I did want to go hang out with people beforehand. The girls next door invited me over and we just hung out. It was quite nice just to relax and be with friends.
Saturday was a good day, I got to go Shopping! Gotta love that :) I went to find a new purse and anything else was going to be a bonus. Unfortunately I did find a purse but it was 70 pounds ($110) way over my budget!!! I did however find a pair of black jeggings and 2 scarves for under 17 pounds ($27) what a deal, Gotta love Primark :) When the shopping was all done we headed home. That night I went next door to play a game or watch a movie. We chose to play a game. I had never heard of it before, that may however be because it was a German game. Lets just say I suck at Wizard.... Just look at the score. However, if Steffi didn't have to steal that last pile from me I would have had 10 points... Grr.... Haha.
I guess I could continue on with the last 2 days. Sunday was nothing too special, I made a Blueberry Cake (muffins minus the muffin part) and taught Florian and Adam how to make Cutout cookies and Frosting. Delicious :)
That basically finished the wonderfully relaxing Sunday! Whew.
I guess I should finish with today, and I'm warning you right now that nothing happened. Haha.
Welp, since nothing happened I shall just say goodnight and until next time :)
BYE!
